EldeRem was built for one household before it was built for anyone else.
A personal need
Our founder and CEO Michael Kariv’s mother is 95. At some point she needed a full-time, live-in caregiver.
Michael started out running the payroll calculations in a spreadsheet. Then the base salary changed. Then a public holiday that falls on a Saturday was mis-counted as if falls on a working day. Small mistakes crept in.
Michael who is a software developer with decades of experience, decided to build his own tool.
A friend who understood
From the start, Michael’s closest friend was the person he turned to for advice. He was going through the same thing, and he understood it without explanation.
So once the system worked, Michael shared it with him. That was the first time anyone outside Michael’s own household used it.
